Biography
Aneeta Prem MBE founded Freedom Charity in 2009 and is Chief Executive of TNA UK, The Facial Pain Charity. She is an author, magistrate, trustee of The Neurological Alliance and co-chair of Learn About Britain. Her work covers forced marriage, FGM, dishonour abuse, children’s safeguarding, trigeminal neuralgia and patient voice. She is an experienced television, radio and press commentator who is used to explaining difficult subjects clearly and directly.
Aneeta Prem MBE has spent many years challenging abuse hidden behind family pressure, silence, culture and so-called honour. Through Freedom Charity, she has worked to prevent forced marriage, female genital mutilation and related forms of coercion through education, safeguarding, public awareness and practical support.
She is the author of the safeguarding novels But It’s Not Fair and Cut Flowers, created to help children, schools and professionals recognise risk and speak about forced marriage and FGM safely. As Chief Executive of TNA UK, Aneeta also represents people living with trigeminal neuralgia and facial pain, bringing together charity leadership, lived experience and patient advocacy.
Aneeta is a magistrate and an experienced national and international media commentator. She brings calm authority to difficult subjects, challenges euphemistic language and keeps the experiences of victims, survivors and patients at the centre of public discussion.
